20% of Africans over 15 and 50% of African women over 25 are illiterate (UNESCO). Millions of children around the world need help to break the never-ending cycle of poverty. Hunger weakens them. Unsafe drinking water makes them sick. Missing out on an education k
eeps them from reaching their potential. As a sponsor, you will help provide a child with sustainable access to appropriate life-changing basics like nutritious food, clean water, healthcare, and education. Child sponsorship also helps families and communities lift themselves out of poverty by providing job training, business coaching, small loans, along with training to help poverty-affected farmers learn new ways to irrigate and grow crops. Your monthly sponsorship of $35 provides food, medical care, education, clothes, shelter and more for one child. When you sponsor a child, we will match your request as closely as possible depending on the need for child sponsors. On average, an annual sponsorship contribution of $420 paid in full is allocated in the following way: 80% is transferred for program support that directly benefits your sponsored child and 20% is used to provide essential sponsorship services. You’ll be given the opportunity to personally connect with your sponsored child – building a relationship that could change both your lives. You will receive a Welcome Kit with a photo and information about your sponsored child plus an introductory DVD.
Sponsorship will include:
- The opportunity to write and receive letters, send small packages and even email your child; and
- Annual progress reports with updated photos of your child.
THE BENEFITS OF CHILD SPONSORSHIP
Sponsorship brings change to more than just one child – the benefits you help provide extend to each child’s family, their community, and other children in need. That’s because JNN Foundation plans with,  and works alongside, local community members to help build healthy communities for children in impoverished places. For about $1 a day, you’ll provide children in need with access to life-saving basics like:
- Clean water
- Nutritious food
- Healthcare
- Education
- And more!
HOW IT WORKS
- Choose a girl or boy to sponsor. In ten days you’ll receive your Welcome Kit with a photo, sponsorship DVD and more. As a child sponsor, you’ll help provide access to life-changing basics for a child in need. You can search based on gender, country, age, or birthday.
- In six to twelve weeks begin looking in the mail for your first letter from your sponsored child.
Sponsorship fosters sustainability. We believe the best way to change a child’s life is to help the child’s community become healthy, thriving, and self-reliant. As a child sponsor, you help make this possible. Your sponsorship donation changes lives. As a child sponsor, you will establish a long-term relationship with a child. You will watch your sponsored child grow up and get insight into life in their shoes. You may even choose to visit your sponsored child or village. Visits are arranged through our Sponsorship Office and require 4-6 weeks advance notice.
Sponsorship lasts as long as your friend is in the program, or as long as you choose to continue as a sponsor. Most of our sponsor relationships last many years and have a life-long impact on both the sponsors and their sponsored friends. Many sponsors believe that sponsorship is a practical way to live out their faith. By putting a face on poverty, our sponsors make a real connection with someone across a geographic, cultural and economic divide. They are often humbled by their sponsored friend’s heroic struggle against the tremendous odds of poverty. As a sponsor, you are crucial to our mission. Your tax-deductible contribution of $35 per month provides a child, youth or aging friend with:Â
- Essential benefits such as food, clothing, home repairs and health care.
- Educational needs such as school supplies, uniforms, tuition and other school fees.
- Recreational activities and Christmas and birthday celebrations.
- Literacy training and livelihood programs for parents.
Sponsorship benefits vary according to the individual needs of sponsored members and their families, local resources and other considerations. Benefits are designed to meet critical needs and help families build a path out of poverty. The child sponsorship program unites children in need with individual sponsors who wish to address the children’s immediate, basic and educational needs. Education is a basic right for children everywhere and of vital importance for the development of a country. Education will revolutionize a child’s whole life, bringing a permanent change to the child and their entire fam
ily. Education will also begin to remove the curse of poverty from the country. Children’s rights should not have to depend on the economic capacity of their parents. The right to a good education is the most fundamental right of a child. Unfortunately due to poverty many children miss out on an education. Parents or guardians are expected to provide everything from classroom construction, to books and uniforms for their child, as well as maintenance of the school. Consequently many parents simply do not have the money to send their children to school. Many African families are subsistence farmers and for those lucky enough to have employment earn very little. JNN Foundation aims to link sponsors with needy children, many of whom are orphans, to enable them to continue their education.
More than anything, a mother wants her child to be able to attend school and get a good education. She will even feed her family only one meal a day if it means having more money for school fees to send her children to school. Sadly, sometimes even this sacrifice is not enough. There is just not enough money to keep all her
children in school, especially when they reach the secondary (high school) level. It is especially difficult for the women who often have at least two or three orphans that they are caring for in their household. Please consider helping a child in need today! You can make a difference. Some children are not currently in school because of lack of school fees. Others can attend only sporadically as they keep getting sent home when their parents/guardians cannot pay the full term’s tuition and fees. Others are orphans who have no one who is willing to pay their fees. These children range in age from nursery school, about age 4 to as old as 21. JNN Foundation child sponsorship is incredibly personal. We put every sponsor in touch with an individual child, so you can be sure that you are forming a real relationship with a child, and that you are their only sponsor. And so that you know that every penny you spend is changing a child’s life. We know we cannot make all the difference, but we can make a difference, one child at a time. So if you would like to change a child’s life, please sponsor a child today or make a donation.

Empowerment of Women
Contribute to the empowerment of women around the world through education, outreach, cross-cultural exchange, and support. Women all over the world face the pervasive challenges of unequal rights, a lack of awareness of rights, low literacy rates, dependency, limited access to education and opportunities to earn a living, and poverty. Your time, skills, and ideas can help build solidarity and support for women of all ages in their pursuit of healthy and sustainable livelihoods. You can support local women’s groups and other organizations serving women by providing training and sharing skills to help increase economic opportunities and spur economic independence; providing short-term care and support for children to be in a safe and nurturing environment while women can take time to handle errands or business matters; or sharing knowledge and hope for the future through education on the rights of women and girls, personal health and hygiene, and other women’s issues.  JNN Foundation aims to empower women to fight against the global issues affecting them every day including poverty, low literacy rates, dependency, unequal rights, and limited access to education. While women’s rights are still not completely equal in any part of the world, in some of the communities where we work, the disparity is even greater. We work with local community organizations that are striving to help women in a variety of ways including, teaching vocational and language skills, offering micro-credit loans; to teaching proper hygiene; providing a safe shelter for abused women and their children, and more.
Please Support Women and Be a Positive Role Model
Working toward women’s empowerment enables you to support women in their pursuit for healthy and self-sustainable livelihoods. You can volunteer at women’s groups that provide a forum for local women on issues such as family health, women’s rights, access to resources, income generation, and other challenges women face in their d
aily lives. Your contribution makes it possible for motivated volunteers to make a difference in low-income and underserved communities in Africa. You can provide support to JNN foundation by sponsoring a project or event. To identify a list of projects, you can review the future projects or sustainability projects for understanding.
